mayoral candidate Brett Smiley on Friday released his first campaign
ad.
The 30-second ad, titled Man with a
Plan, highlights Smiley's organizing skills.
It begins with Smiley as a fifth grader
creating a plan for recess, then four years later a vacation plan.
“Brett planned the best vacation
we've ever had,” Smiley's mom says.
“Brett is the most organized person
I've ever met,” husband Jim DeRentis says in an interview.
“Who else would propose marriage on a
Powerpoint presentation?” DeRentis adds over a re-imagining of the

Democratic strategist Karl Frisch
called the ad “adorable.”
“What's remarkable to me about the
spot is 1) that his husband and their marriage make an appearance
without batting an eye and 2) the ad really feels like a commercial
for a yet to be released Wes Anderson movie,” Frisch wrote in
sharing the video.
