Ellen DeGeneres has advised Jim Parsons
to get married and play tennis.
Appearing on DeGeneres' daytime talk
show to promote the upcoming HBO film The Normal Heart,
Parsons was grilled about when he plans to marry his partner of 11
years, Todd Spiewak.
“Are you going to get married?”
DeGeneres asked.
“I don't know, that's a hard one.
You get so used to your life as it is,” Parsons answered.
“But it gets better when you're
married, it really does. Don't think that it doesn't,” said
DeGeneres, who married actress Portia de Rossi in 2008.
“Well, I don't think that it
doesn't.”
“But eleven years is enough time to
know,” DeGeneres insisted.
Parsons said that he felt that he
hasn't been “enthusiastic” enough about getting hitched.
Later in the interview, Parsons said he
enjoys watching tennis but doesn't play any sports, to which
DeGeneres stated that he should give tennis a try.
“That's what you've learned today:
You're going to play tennis and you're going to get married,”
DeGeneres told Parsons.
“When did you turn into my mother?”
Parsons asked. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit
