Christian conservative Bryan Fisher on
Wednesday said that Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy is learning the hard
way that gay activists are “like leeches.”
In the summer of 2012, Cathy created a
firestorm of controversy for saying that marriage equality is
“inviting God's judgment on our nation” and conceding that his
company gave millions to anti-equality groups.
Fox News' Mike Huckabee organized a
successful day of support for Chick-fil-A to counter pro-equality
supporters protesting at Chick-fil-A locations. Last year, Cathy
criticized two rulings in support of marriage equality handed down by
the Supreme Court.
But in a recent interview with The
Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Cathy said he won't be weighing in
on the subject anymore.
A backlash declaring Cathy – whose
expansion plans are meeting with resistance in New York – a “sell
out” ensued.
“Dan Cathy is learning the hard way
that the homosexual lobby, gay activists, are like leeches,”
Fischer
told his radio listeners.
“The point here,” Fischer said
after citing Proverbs 30:15, “is that with the homosexual lobby,
you cannot ever give them enough. Don't even try. There's no point
in making concessions. There's no point in capitulating. There's no
point in yielding to their demands. There's no point in offering
them some kind of appeasement in the hopes that they will leave you
alone, that they will leave you in peace. It won't work.” (The
