Social conservative radio talk show
host Michael Medved on Friday claimed that gay marriage bans are a
“liberal lie.”
“There's never been a state in this
country that has ever banned gay marriage. That's a liberal lie,”
Medved
stated.
Medved made his remarks while
participating in a panel sponsored by Focus on the Family at this
week's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), an annual
gathering of conservatives.
Some social conservatives argue that
prohibiting gay couples from marrying is not discriminatory because a
gay person could chose to marry someone of the opposite sex.
Alexander McCorbin of Students for
Liberty shot back that marriage equality was the “civil rights
