Tim Wildmon, president of the Christian conservative American
Family Association (AFA), has asserted that gay men “walk like a
girl.”
Wildmon welcomed Linda Harvey, author
of Maybe He's Not Gay: Another View on Homosexuality, to his
AFA Today radio program.
During the interview, Wildmon declared
that he “can tell you who's gay” in public just by looking at
them.
“Linda, how come, I can almost see
out in public, I can tell you who's gay,” Wildmon
said with a chuckle. “I mean, I don't go walk up to them and
say, 'Hey, you're gay, aren't you?'”
“But they have these effeminate, a
lot of them, actions. Men I'm talking about. They walk like a girl,
a lot of them.”
“And it just makes you wonder, how
does that develop? Where does that come from?” Wildmon asked.
Harvey accused Hollywood and Madison
Avenue of “deliberately” providing male role models that “just
aren't masculine.”
“You'll watch, you know, Hollywood
movies, television shows and it seems as though males are being
feminized. Even if it's the metrosexual thing. Even if they're not
deliberately gay but most of the ads you'll see on the Super Bowl.
You'll see ad after ad after ad and the men are not, you know, we're
not stereotyping men, but even with a little bit of flexibility they
just aren't masculine. And this is deliberate. It's like you're
putting that out there as this is the new model of manhood. It's
very wrong. … It is definitely pulling people away from a biblical
model of manhood and womanhood,” she said. (The video is embedded
