A middle-aged woman from Lafia, Nigeria
has publicly disowned her cat, claiming that it is gay.
The unnamed woman rejected the cat,
whom she named Bull, after keeping it as a pet for seven years.
According to Nigerian daily Leadership,
the woman claimed that Bull has “an unnatural sexual behavior”
which is “a contradiction of the laws of nature.” She said that
Bull made sexual advances to the male cats in the house and ignored
the female cats.
“Anybody interested in this gay cat
can have it, because I have no further use of it,” she said. The
paper reported that there have been no takers.
The incident comes just weeks after
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan signed a harsh anti-gay bill
into law that criminalizes gay unions.
