Singer Mary Lambert performed Saturday at the 129th annual HRC San Francisco Bay Area Gala, where she told attendees that she was “overwhelmed” by the positive response to Same Love, the hit gay marriage anthem she collaborated on with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

“So I got to go around the whole country for like this last year just telling everyone how gay I was,” Lambert told the crowd. “And instead of getting hate mail, I got like, went double platinum. So, like, that's pretty cool. I've felt just overwhelmed with society, I think, and finding that people are sometimes, you know, not only met your expectations but rise above that And the fact that the song took off and took this life of its own. And to be a part of that and to have written that hook and have, like, you know, people of all ages, of every kind of demographic singing this song at the top of their lungs is like crazy.”

Lambert went on to perform an acoustic version of She Keeps Me Warm, which she has described as the other side of Same Love. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
