Glee's fifth season premiered with an elaborate marriage
proposal between TV boyfriends Darren Criss and Chris Colfer.
On Thursday's premiere episode, Blaine (played by Criss) and Kurt
(Colfer) reunited after sharing a picnic at McKinley High. But
before the episode ended, Blaine and Kurt were also engaged.
You might remember that season 4 ended with Blaine working his way
back into Kurt's heart and considering marriage. In the season's
final frame, Blaine is seen holding an engagement box.
Blaine recruited the glee club members, including those of rival
teams, to help him put on a spectacular musical proposal to the tune
of The Beatles' All You Need Is Love.
“He loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah,” Blaine sang in a yellow
jacket as rose pedals fell from the top of a spiral staircase.
In proposing, Blaine told Kurt that he felt lucky to have met his
soul mate so early in life.
“I just feel so lucky that I found you so soon in this lifetime,
because all I want to do, all I've ever wanted to do, is spend my
life loving you.”
“So, Kurt Hummel,” Blaine added as he got down on one knee and
produced an engagement ring, “my amazing friend, my one true love
will you marry me?”
“Yes,” Kurt responded. Everyone cheered as the couple shared
a kiss and a hug.
The proposal is the second in as many days for gay network
characters. On Wednesday, Modern Family premiered with a
proposal.
