The gay-themed comedy series EastSiders on Wednesday won best drama at the LA Weekly Web Awards.

The web series, which premiered on YouTube in December, features Emmy-nominated Van Hansis (As the World Turns) and Stephen Guarino (Happy Endings, Bear City).

The dark comedy takes a look at the lives of Cal (played by Kit Williamson) and Thom (Hansis), who live together in Silverlake, California.

In the premiere episode, Cal learns that Thom has been cheating on him with Jeremy (Matthew McKelligon) and that his best friend Kathy (Constance Wu) is engaged to a man she does not want to marry.

Shortly after its premiere, Williamson secured $25,000 on Kickstarter to complete the show's first sason and it moved to cabler Logo TV.

“You don't expect a company like Viacom to reach out to you, so I was beyond thrilled,” Williamson told LAWeekly's Amanda Lewis. (Logo is owned by MTV, a division of Viacom.)
