Three years after coming out gay, country singer Chely Wright says the decision “changed the landscape of my possibilities.”

The 42-year-old Wright married her wife Lauren Blitzer in Connecticut a year after she came out gay in 2010. The couple welcomed identical twin sons George Samuel and Everett Joseph to their family in May.

Appearing on cabler Current's Viewpoint, Wright discussed the consequences of coming out gay.

“The music industry changes so much,” Wright said. “So it's hard to say about record sales, because record sales are in the crapper anyway for a lot of mid-level to smaller indie artists. But I do know my record sales did take a hit. I do know there were venues who told my management and my agent, 'We would love to book her but we're not sure who will show up.' It changed the landscape of my possibilities.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
