Conservatives have criticized Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos'
support for gay marriage as he buys The Washington Post.
Last year, Bezos gave $2.5 million to the campaign to uphold a
marriage equality law approved by Washington state lawmakers.
On Monday, news broke that Bezos had agreed to purchase The
Washington Post for $250 million.
The National Organization for Marriage (NOM), the nation's most
vociferous opponent of marriage equality, greeted the news with the
headline, Get Ready for Washington Post to Get a Whole Lot More
One-Sided About Marriage Debate.
“Those expecting an ideological shift at the Post …
will likely be disappointed,” NOM
wrote in the blog post.
FoxNews.com's Dan
Gainor called the news “bad,” saying that it likely means
that the Post “won't change [its] 'values.'”
And Bryan Fischer of the Christian conservative American Family
Association (AFA) tweeted: “New owner of WaPo gave biggest donation
IN HISTORY to cause of sodomy-based marriage.”
