Chris Colfer, who plays gay student Kurt Hummel on the Fox
musical-comedy Glee, says the show has helped parents accept
their LGBT kids.
Colfer made his remarks during an appearance on HuffPost Live.
“It was an issue that needed to be addressed,” Colfer said.
“I mean I still get letters to this day from kids around the
country who were touched by an episode that we did three or four
seasons ago. I think Glee has
really, really helped a lot of progress get made in that area.”
“I've gotten letters from parents saying, 'I wasn't sure if I
was going to be okay with my child being gay, then I watched the
episode with Burt and Kurt and it really changed my whole point of
view on it,” he added, referring to his character's coming out gay
to his father. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit
