Andy Dean, whose radio show American Now airs nationally on
Premiere Radio Networks, believes social conservatism as promoted by
Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee is dying.
Santorum and Huckabee are best known for opposing gay rights and
reproductive rights.
Appearing on Larry King's new RT show Politicking, Dean
argued that social conservatism was hurting the Republican Party.
Dean separated himself from “Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee, guys
who wear sweater vests” conservatives.
“That whole world is dying. It's supposed to die,” Dean told
King.
“New conservatives are people who like low taxes, less
government intrusion, strong national security and your choice when
it comes to health care. Those are issues that we can win on as an
inclusive party.”
“If you push the abortion issue, you'll never get the female
vote. And without women you can't win, you can't do anything.”
