Two men serving time for murder married
last week in a French prison at Poissy, near Paris.
Alfredo Stranieri, 56, and Germain
Gaiffe, 45, were married by Poissy Mayor Frederik Bernard. Their
union was witnessed by notorious terrorist Illich Ramirez Sanchez,
known as Carlos the Jackal, who is serving two life sentences and
controversial comedian Dieudonne M'bala, known simply as Dieudonne.
Stranieri, who targeted his victims
through classified ads, was dubbed the “small ads killer” by the
media. Gaiffe is serving a 30-year sentence for beheading a man.
Critics, however, have called the
wedding a publicity stunt.
Citing Dieudonne's well-known
opposition to gay nuptials, La
Nouvel Observateur called the marriage “a sham”
orchestrated in “bad taste” by Dieudonne, who had previously
called the marriage law a “Zionist project that aims to divide
people.”
“The marriage law for all opened the
door to anything big,” Dieudonne told the AFP. He added that the
newlyweds were looking to adopt an inmate.
Dieudonne attempted to attend the
wedding wearing a white dress. When asked to change out of the
dress, he reportedly responded: “This is the France of tomorrow.”
