Christian conservative Bryan Fischer
has compared the death of Trayvon Martin, and the subsequent
acquittal of accused murderer George Zimmerman, to two recent Supreme
Court rulings related to gay marriage.
In a tweet sent over the weekend in
response to a Florida jury finding Zimmerman not guilty of the
shooting death of the 17-year-old Martin, Fischer lamented the deaths
of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and Proposition 8, which
resulted from the rulings, as a greater travesty.
“For example of injustice, don't look
at Zimmerman,” Fischer
messaged. “Look at what [the] Supreme Court did on DOMA, Prop
8. There's your travesty.”
Fischer, a spokesman for the American
Family Association (AFA), has a long history of anti-gay rhetoric.
Despite this, he recently told progressive radio host David Pakman
that he's not anti-gay.
