Former Florida Congressman Allen West,
a Republican, has criticized Lady Gaga for her gay-friendly rendition
of the National Anthem.
In her first public appearance since
undergoing hip surgery in February, Lady Gaga sang the National
Anthem at the Gay Pride Parade's Kick Off Rally in New York City last
weekend.
The crowd cheered as the Born This
Way singer belted out “home for the gay” instead of “home
of the brave.”
“Oh, say does that star-spangled flag
of pride yet wave, o'er the land of the free, and a home for the
gay,” Lady Gaga sang.
West, a Tea Party favorite, knocked
Lady Gaga in a
Facebook post.
“Having served in the U.S. Army for
22 years alongside some very brave men and women, I find Lady Gaga's
defiling of our National Anthem reprehensible,” West wrote.
“She and all those who cheered her
abomination should be ashamed and apologize to every serving and
retired member of our Armed Services,” he added.
