Ellen DeGeneres, Chris Colfer and the
NBC comedy The New Normal were among those honored at
Wednesday's People's Choice Awards.
Colfer, who plays gay student Kurt
Hummel on the Fox musical-comedy Glee, was voted favorite
comedic television actor for a second year in a row.
“It is so flattering to be exploited
in your fan fiction,” Colfer said in accepting his award.
DeGeneres was voted favorite daytime
television host.
“It's 2013, this is my 13th
People's Choice Award,” DeGeneres said. “It is exactly as the
Mayans predicted. So far, they got one right.”
In the category Favorite New Comedy,
NBC's The New Normal took home the award.
In the show from Glee creator
Ryan Murphy, David (played by Justin Bartha, The Hangover) and
Bryan (Andrew Rannells, Broadway's Book of Mormon) begin their
quest to start a family as Goldie (Georgia King) and her daughter
escape the clutches of her overbearing and homophobic grandmother
(Ellen Barkin) from small town Ohio to Los Angeles.
The New Normal is expected to be
picked up for a second season.
