British singer-songwriter Neon Hitch
has publicly come out bisexual, saying she's “kind of a lesbian.”
The first single from Hitch's debut
album Beg, Borrow and Steal, Fuck U Betta, was released
in January; Gold followed six months later.
The 26-year-old, who shared a flat with
Amy Winehouse before her death last year, discussed her sexual
orientation with the New York Daily News.
“I have a personal belief that
everybody's gay,” she said on Sunday after performing at the Pines
on Fire Island, New York. “Maybe some people don't know it.”
She added that she found out her mother
was a lesbian when “I walked in her caravan one day and found her
in bed with a lady!”
Hitch recalled “a very specific
wonderful memory” about a sexual experience with a woman who is
“not with us anymore.”
“She introduced me to … being kind
of a lesbian,” she added. “She's not with us now, but she's
looking down upon us.”
The News
added that an unnamed source did not believe the mysterious woman was
Winehouse.
