Author-activist Chaz Bono is calling on
his Twitter followers to back President Barack Obama's reelection
campaign.
The 43-year-old Bono last month
messaged his nearly 111,000 followers: “Happy 4th of
July! As a proud American I support @BarackObama, and will do all I
can to re-elect him. Please join me in this commitment.”
After Mitt Romney last week announced
Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his pick for vice president, Bono
messaged that the GOP ticket would be a step “backward” for gay
rights and women.
“Romney's VP pick voted against equal
pay for women and repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. We can't go
backward,” Bono tweeted.
On Tuesday, he added: “I have
donate[d] my time and money to @BarackObama re-election, I hope
you'll join me in doing the same. I remember how it was under Bush.”
“You[r] momma brought you up good :)”
responded one follower.
A second disagreed: “Love you Chaz,
but cannot join you on this.”
