Citing the need to protect children,
Ukraine's National Commission for the Protection of Morality wants to
ban children's shows SpongeBob SquarePants and Teletubbies.
According to the Ukrainian newspaper
Ukrainskaya Pravda, the commission declared that the cartoon
character SpongeBob SquarePants is gay and that the British BBC
children's television series Teletubbies “deliberately aims
to create subnormal [men] who spend all day in front of the
television with their mouths open swallowing all types of
information.”
Such behavior, the
commission claimed, is linked to the “psychology of losers.”
Other shows such as The Simpsons,
Family Guy, Pokemon and Futurama are “projects
aimed at the destruction of the family, and the promotion of drugs
and other vices.”
The commission cites “a real threat
to children” in proposing a nationwide ban on the series.
