House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on
Thursday said she is not a Chick-Fil-A fan.
When a reporter asked Pelosi, who
represents San Francisco, to comment on San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee's
recent tweet advising Chick-Fil-A to keep its distance from the city,
she joked that she prefers Kentucky Fried Chicken.
“I'm a Kentucky Fried Chicken fan,”
she told the reporter. “That's where my loyalty lies.”
Lee made his comments in response to
Chick-Fil-A President Dan Cathy's recent remarks in opposition to gay
marriage.
“Do you really think, though, that
any business should be banned from these cities simply because of the
CEO's personal beliefs? Do you think that's OK?” the reporter
followed up.
“Well, I believe in freedom of
expression,” Pelosi answered. “But I believe that the mayor of
San Francisco has freedom of expression, as well.”
