Singer Lady Gaga's partnership with
Office Depot is a ploy to turn kids gay, a Christian conservative
group claims.
Last week, Office
Depot announced it will donate at least $1 million to support Lady
Gaga's Born This Way Foundation, which works to end bullying in
schools. The office supply chain pledged to donate twenty-five
percent of the sales of limited edition products for back-to-school
to the Born This Way Foundation, with a guaranteed donation of $1
million this year.
The products – which include pens,
gift cards and Post-It notes – include the Born This Way Foundation
logo along with one of six messages: “Be Brave,” “Be Amazing,”
“Be Yourself,” “Be Kind,” “Be Accepting,” and “Be
Involved.”
The Florida Family Association (FFA)
called the campaign “irresponsible” and accused Lady Gaga – a
strong supporter of gay rights – of attempting to trick kids into
being gay.
“The one million dollar pledge from
Office Depot to the Lady Gaga Born This Way Foundation will influence
many teens to embrace homosexuality for their lifetime who may have
otherwise worked through their crisis with straight results,” the
group wrote at its blog.
“Thousands of kids who might have
otherwise worked through their pubescent sexual identity issues will
be inspired to accept the wrong choice based upon this unscientific,
emotionally charged born this way propaganda. What's brave or kind
about telling thousands of sexually frustrated teens that they were
born this way when a high percentage of them would have ended up
taking the straight heterosexual path for life?”
