Naya Rivera, who plays openly lesbian
student Santana Lopez on the Fox musical-comedy Glee,
appreciates her gay fans.
Rivera made her remarks during a Glee
panel at Comic Con, which took place over the weekend in San Diego.
Last season on Glee, Santana
left for college, leaving behind her girlfriend, Brittany Susan
Pierce, who is played by Heather Morris.
Rivera said the television couple “is
really good and they definitely love each other.”
“I hope that they make it,” she
added.
Rivera said that she had heard from
many of her gay fans.
“I get so many stories and tweets and
letters from girls that say that Britney and Santana have helped them
come out to their parents or their friends or just to be more
comfortable with who they are,” Rivera said. “So I really,
really appreciate getting that sort of thing.”
“The impact has obviously been huge.
It's given me the greatest fan base that I could have ever asked
for,” she said. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this
