George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch in the Los Angeles reading of Dustin Lance Black's play 8 available on audio book Friday.

The reading is available for digital download and on CD. Bonus content on the audio release include interviews with lawyers David Boies and Ted Olson.

8 is based on the trial over the constitutionality of California's gay marriage, Proposition 8.

The 2010 trial, which was held in San Francisco, resulted in federal Judge Vaughn Walker, now retired, declaring the 2008 voter-approved amendment unconstitutional. A 3-judge appeals panel earlier this year upheld Walker's ruling. Proponents of the ban have asked the court for a wider review.

The Los Angeles reading of the play also starred Jamie Lee Curtis, Matt Bomer, Martin Sheen and George Takei, to name a few.

As part of the Gay Pride month, L.A. Theatre Works will also broadcast the reading – check local NPR stations for times and availability – and stream the dramatization on demand at its website, LATW.org.
