Hamilton, Ontario-based television
station CHCH apologized Friday for airing roughly 3 minutes of
hardcore gay pornography.
The broadcast occurred during the
station's local Friday morning newscast.
CHCH news director Mike Katrycz
apologized to viewers in a video posted on the station's website.
“First of all, we would like to
apologize to our viewers,” Katrycz said in the short clip. “This
was a problem that originated, not at CHCH, but at a cable company.
Apparently some cable lines had been cut, and in the splicing back
together some inappropriate content went on air. Again it was beyond
the control of CHCH, but we do apologize to our viewers.” (The
video is embedded in the right panel of this page. Visit

CHCH viewers commented on the blunder
in messages on Twitter.
“Looks like #CHCH dropped the balls
on this one,” one message read, while another noted that “CHCH
will be changing their call letters to OHOH.”
“I heard the first episode of #CHCH's
new show 'Morning Wood' was canceled after only 3 minutes,” another
viewer joked.
