Chaz Bono is under consideration for a dating reality series.

The 43-year-old Bono last year created a firestorm of controversy when he became the first transgender person to appear on ABC's dancing reality contest Dancing with the Stars.

World of Wonder producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato told TheWrap.com that they are in talks with Bono to develop a reality dating series.

“He's an extraordinary person living an ordinary life, and I think that's what the show would be about,” Bailey said. “People don't know a lot about the [transgender] life, and because of that, sometimes there's fear. [Bono] has always sought to shed light on that.”

Bailey and Barbato worked with Bono in the documentary film Becoming Chaz, which focused on Bono's gender reassignment, and the film's follow up, Being Chaz, in which he proposed marriage to longtime girlfriend Jennifer Elia.

The couple decided to part ways in December.

Bailey and Barbato said the project was in the early stages of development and a series title, format and network have yet to be decided upon. Bono's search for love, they said, would more likely have a documentary style.
