Gay porn star Roman Ragazzi, real name
Dror Barak, has died from an apparent suicide at the age of 38.
According to various unconfirmed
reports, Barak, who left porn in 2008 after less than 2 years in the
industry, took his own life on Saturday, February 25.
The handsome, 5-foot-eleven Barak
resigned from an administrative job at the Israeli consulate in 2007
after The New York Post's gossip column Page
Six outed him as moonlighting in the porn industry.
A former member of the Israeli
military, Barak went on to create a fitness company called Freedom
Fitness. Most recently, he appeared modeling a tight Roberto
Cavalli swimsuit in a layout titled New
York's Finest which ran in the February issue of gay glossy
Out.
“He was probably the hottest man I
have ever filmed – a massive man of pure beauty, intelligence and
kindness,” Chris Ward, who helms the gay porn studio Raging
Stallion, is quoted as saying by GayPornBlog.com.
“He was perfect in every possible way.”
The site also published a letter from
Barak's boyfriend, Sam, who said Barak's company was doing “amazingly
well.”
“Details are mostly personal
depression issues,” he wrote. “Despite what anyone thinks, Dror
was a loving, kind person and anyone that would comment and say he
wasn't just probably misinterpreted his shyness as meanness. He was
the most gentle, loving, kind, amazing man I have ever met.”
