North Carolina pastor Patrick Wooden
has said gay activist Pam Spaulding needs to find a man to “rock
her world.”
Wooden, a pastor at Raleigh's Upper
Room Church, is an outspoken supporter of North Carolina's proposed
constitutional amendment that would bar the state from recognizing
the unions of gay couples with marriage, civil unions and possibly
domestic partnerships.
Spaulding, a resident of North Carolina
who is bisexual, blogs on LGBT-related issues at Pam's House Blend,
which is hosted at FireDogLake.com.
She is a vocal opponent of the proposed amendment, which will go
before voters during the state's May presidential primary.
Speaking on the radio show of Peter
LaBarbera, the president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality
(AFTAH), Wooden insisted that Spauling's sexuality would alter when
she “meets the Lord.”
“I love Pam, and one of these days I
hope to invite Pam Spaulding maybe to lunch, and we can sit and
talk,” Wooden said. “I love her and I am praying for her.”
“Pam needs Jesus. When Pam meets the
Lord that yearning for a member of the same sex will change. …
She'd probably make a fantastic mother and would enjoy having a
husband who was born male – no Chaz Bono business – born male,
and meet her man, and rock her world in the name of the Lord.”
