Mitt Romney on Wednesday was showered with glitter from an activist protesting the candidate's opposition to gay rights.

Romney, his wife Ann and son Josh were introduced by former Governor Tim Pawlenty at a rally in Eagan, Minnesota. As he made his way to the stage, Romney was doused with glitter.

Once on the stage, Romney labeled the glittering a “little celebration.”

“Hi there, how are you? Good to see you! There you go,” Romney enthusiastically greeted the cheering crowd. “Hey listen guys, I'm delighted to be here with you, this is an exciting time. I'm happy for a little celebration. This is confetti! We just won Florida! We're just going to win the White House next! Let me tell you, President Obama is not going to be seeing a lot of confetti.” (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)

Other GOP presidential candidates have also previously been glitter bombed for their opposition to gay rights, including Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich. Former candidates Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty have also faced glitter protests.
