Glee co-star Ashley Fink has
joined the NOH8 Campaign, the silent protest which raises awareness
and funds for gay rights causes, including ending California's 2008
voter-approved gay marriage ban, Proposition 8.
The 23-year-old Fink plays plus-sized
and proud student Lauren Zizes on the Fox musical comedy.
The NOH8 Campaign is helmed by
photographer-activist Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley. The
pair photograph celebrities and everyday folks with their mouths duct
taped and the campaign's familiar “NOH8” slogan often written on
one cheek.
In
her photograph, Fink is making a shush gesture with one finger
over her duct taped mouth.
Finks' recurring character has only
appeared in two episodes of Glee in
season 3. But she was given storylines of her own last year.
During an appearance on CNN's now-ended
the Joy Behar Show, Fink
told host Joy Behar that Glee attempts to break down many
stereotypes and insisted the show – often refereed to as “the
gayest show on television” for its inclusion of four central gay
characters – does not have a gay agenda.
