The two gay couples behind the legal
challenge to Prop 8 – Jeff Zarrillo and Paul Katami, and Kristin
Perry and Sandra Stier – say they are thankful for their
relationships.
In a nearly 3-minute video released
Wednesday by the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER), the
group formed specifically to challenge the constitutionality of Prop
8, California's gay marriage ban, the couples talk about what they
are grateful for this Thanksgiving holiday.
Zarrillo says he's thankful that
there's someone waiting for him at home.
“It would be really important that if
this was the year that we could finally get married. That this would
be our last Thanksgiving as bachelors,” he said.
“This Thanksgiving is a special one
for us. We're waiting to go back to the appeals court and we, of
course, recently got the Supreme Court ruling in California that the
proponents have standing. So we're so thankful that we're moving
forward with the case. And it's been a long road but we're really
looking forward to 2012 and moving forward with our case,” Stier
stated. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page.
