Singer George Michael has postponed
four shows after falling ill with pneumonia.
According to an item on Michael's
official website, a planned concert in Vienna on Monday and another
in Strasbourg on Wednesday have been postponed. Two shows scheduled
for Sunday and Monday in Cardiff, Wales have also been pushed back.
“With great regret, George Michael
has been forced to postpone his November 26 and 27 shows in Cardiff,
Wales, due to his ongoing illness,” the statement read.
“George was recently forced to
postpone tour dates in Vienna and Strasbourg under doctor's orders
after being diagnosed with pneumonia. He is currently receiving
treatment.”
The 48-year-old Michael announced his
new symphony orchestra-backed tour in May during a press conference
at London's Royal Opera House. He also announced he would be
recording a new album during breaks on the tour.
Earlier in the month, media speculation
over photographs of Michael with boyfriend Fadi Fawaz in Venice
prompted the Faith singer to reply on Twitter: “Before I hit
the hay thought I might remind the media that my 'new man' is in fact
the same man they photographed me with at Nobu … in 2008!”
