Singers Adam Lambert and Ricky Martin
will get their own VH1 Behind The Music specials when the
music documentary series returns in June.
Martin's episode is set to premiere on
August 17.
“In this Behind the Music,
Ricky Martin recounts his career from his early days with the Latin
pop group Menudo through his days as a soap opera star and finally to
his career as a music phenomenon,” producers said in a statement
announcing the new season.
Martin is also expected to talk about
his decision to come out gay in his 2010 memoir Me and reflect
on how he balances his life as a father of twin boys while performing
in an international tour.
The August 10 premiere of Lambert's
episode promises never-before-seen footage of the talented musician.
“Viewers of this episode of Behind
the Music will see never-before-seen home video footage,
interviews with family, friends, industry experts and musical
luminaries including Barry Weiss and American Idol season 8
winner Kris Allen. With constant criticism about being too bold, too
offensive and too gay, Adam Lambert comes clean to VH1 about who he
really is and the obstacles he has overcome to get where the is
today.”
Also featured this season are Missy
Elliott, Ice Cube, Miranda Lambert, Mary J. Blige and Enrique
Iglesias.
