Among the people actress Jane Lynch
thanked Sunday during her Golden Globes acceptance speech was her
wife Lara.
Lynch, who's part of a short list of
openly gay and married Hollywood actors, won her first Golden Globe
for her portrayal of sharp-tongued coach Sue Sylvester on the Fox
musical-comedy Glee.
The 50-year-old Lynch married Dr. Lara
Embry last year on Memorial Day in Massachusetts.
On the red carpet, she joked with the
Los Angeles Times about the contents of her purse.
“My invitation, a little bit of
lipstick and a tampon,” she said. “I'm feeling real lucky
tonight. I'm menstruating. I'm in my lady power.”
She was equally enjoyable in making her
acceptance speech.
“I am nothing if not falsely humble,”
she told the crowd.
“The great thing about Glee,
the greatest thrill is I have 14-year-old kids coming up to me
vibrating out of their bodies saying how happy Glee makes
them. When I have the time and I'm not eating and don't want to be
bothered, you know, I'll give them a moment of my time.”
