Grammy-nominated singer Adam Lambert
has been named Music Star of the Year by gay entertainment website
GregInHollywood.com.
“For his energy, the excitement he
brings to all he does, and his devotion to his fans, Adam wins the
Greggy for Music Star of the Year,” Greg
Hernandez wrote in a blog post announcing Lambert's win.
“When the year began, Adam Lambert
was still living down his controversial performance at the 2009
American Music Awards,” Hernandez added, referring to the hoopla
that dogged the singer after he kissed a male member of his band
during the televised performance.
“What I saw from him after that was
most impressive: He simply got to work. Adam focused not on the
hype, but on the music and on his live shows and proved himself to be
a total professional.”
Lambert recently brought his global
Glam Nation tour to an end in Los Angeles, where
he dedicated a rendition of Sam Cooke's A Change is Gonna Come
to gay rights.
Also winning Greggys this year are
Darren
Criss for his portrayal of out-and-proud student Blaine on the Fox
musical-comedy Glee and country
music star Chely Wright, whose coming out gay story was named most
moving.
