British actor-tv personality Stephen
Fry and fiance Elliott Spencer have married.
“Gosh, @ElliottGSpencer and I go into
a room as two people, sign a book and leave as one. Amazing,” Fry
tweeted to his more than 8 million Twitter followers along with a
photo of the couple signing a marriage register in Dereham, Norfolk.
Fry, 57, and Spencer, a 27-year-old
stand-up comic, reportedly started dating last year.
Two weeks ago, Fry confirmed reports
that the couple was preparing to marry.
“Oh, it looks as though a certain cat
is out of a certain bag,” he messaged. “I'm very very happy of
course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!”
Fry is thought to have separated from a
long-term partner five years ago, though he's not revealed many
details of his love life.
