Out singer Sam Smith on Friday received 6 Grammy Award nominations, tying with Beyonce and mega-producer Pharrell.

Smith's debut album In the Lonely Hour is up for album of the year.

Other honors include best new artist and song and record of the year for his hit single Stay With Me.

The nominations were staggered throughout the day.

“4 Grammy Nominations and I haven't even gotten out of bed yet – fucking hell,” Smith captioned a photo of himself in bed holding up four fingers.

Openly lesbian country singer Brandy Clark received a nomination for best new artist and her debut album 12 Stories is up for best country album. Clark co-wrote Kacey Musgraves' hit Follow Your Heart, which encourages fans to “love who you love.”

CBS will air the Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 8 live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
