A gay character will be introduced when
AMC's The Walking Dead returns in February.
Showrunner Scott Gimple confirmed to
Deadline
Hollywood that a gay male character would be introduced in the
second half of the show's 5th season but wouldn't reveal
any details.
Walking Dead co-creator and
executive producer Robert Kirkman also said that a gay character from
the comics that the show is based on would be joining the show.
“For fans familiar with the comics,
that points to the Alexandria Safe-Zone, which the survivors travel
to on their way to Washington D.C., and the gay character of Aaron
meets up with Rick and gang there,” Deadline wrote.
Gimple would not confirm whether the
character is Aaron.
“I'll just say that in the comic
there is more than one gay character, so it may be the one you are
thinking of or it may be another one,” he said.
The Walking Dead returns on
Sunday, February 8.
