The CW's The Flash includes two
gay characters and out actor Victor Garber.
Garber (Alias, Argo), who
quietly came out gay last year by
saying he was never in, will play Dr. Martin Stein, one half of
the Firestorm entity from the DC Comics universe. Dr. Stein is a
nuclear physicist devoted to his work in transmutation.
The CW's spin-off of Arrow
premiered last week with Grant Gustin (Glee) playing Barry
Allen, an awkward forensic crime scene assistant who gains
super-human speed after being struck by lighting to become The Flash.
According to TVLine,
the show includes two gay characters: villain The Pied Piper and
Crime Lab Director David Singh.
Singh is played by Patrick Sabongui
(The Cabin in the Woods, Godzilla), while The Pied Piper is
played by Andy Mientus (Smash).
Mientus, 27, is openly gay and recently
announced
his engagement to his long-term boyfriend, Michael Arden, 31, who
co-stars on the FX sitcom Anger Management.
Dr. Stein and The Pied Piper make their
debut later in the season.
