Jason Collins, the NBA's first openly
gay player, is not sure he'll return to the NBA next season.
In signing with the Brooklyn Nets in
March, Collins, who came out gay on the cover of Sports
Illustrated last year, became the NBA's first active openly gay
player.
But the 35-year-old isn't sure he'll
return to the game next year.
“I go back and forth on what my next
steps will be,” Collins told Gay
Star News.
Collins said he'll decide next month
whether to resume training.
“I still run,” he said. “I don't
want to turn into Charles Barkley.”
Collins, who attended Wimbledon, was
named to the president's Council on Fitness and Nutrition and
appeared at numerous Gay Pride festivals and events this summer, said
he was looking forward to attending the U.S. Open in New York and
attending other various events.
He added that with a packed schedule
he's been “enjoying this summer.”
