In a campaign ad, Arizona gubernatorial
candidate Andrew Thomas proudly states his support for Arizona's
failed “license to discriminate against gays” bill.
Opponents of SB 1062, which was vetoed
by Republican Governor Jan Brewer, said it would have allowed
businesses and individuals to discriminate against gay people based
on their religious beliefs.
According to a Public
Policy Polling survey, 72 percent of respondents said they
support Brewer's decision to reject the bill.
“This election, we must defend our
way of life and secure our border but we must also defend the family
and marriage,” Thomas says in the 30-second clip. “I am the only
candidate for governor who stood up to the gay lobby and supported SB
1062, a bill that would have protected religious freedom and all
Arizonans from frivolous gay rights lawsuits. We must stand up to
liberal bullies.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit

Thomas is one of six candidates vying
for the GOP nomination for governor. Early voting is already
underway in Arizona. Polls show Thomas near the back of the pack.
Thomas was disbarred in 2012 after a
panel found him guilty of using his office to destroy his political
enemies.
