Pueblo County Clerk Gilbert Ortiz on
Friday began issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples,
joining two other Colorado counties.
“Pueblo County acknowledges marriage
equality and will begin issuing licenses at 8 am tomorrow,” Ortiz
tweeted on Thursday.
Denver County Clerk Debra Johnson began
issuing such licenses on Thursday.
“My Office issued 17 same-sex
licenses to loving couples in #Denver today,” she tweeted.
“Onward!”
Johnson and Ortiz are the first two
county clerks to act after a Colorado judge ruled that Boulder County
Clerk Hillary Hall can continue issuing marriage licenses to gay
couples, though District Court Judge Andrew Harman said the validity
of the licenses remains in question.

Colorado Attorney General John Suthers,
a Republican, said he would appeal Harman's ruling to the Colorado
Supreme Court.
