Two-time Grammy Award-winner Kacey
Musgraves will perform at next month's GLAAD Media Awards in New York
City, making her the first country music artist to perform at the
annual event.
GLAAD announced Friday that openly gay
country music artist Chely Wright will introduce Musgraves at the
25th annual GLAAD Media Awards on May 3.
In the hit single Follow
Your Arrow, Musgraves encourages fans to “love who you
love.”
“I think it's definitely time for
[gay] issues to be accepted in country music,” she said during a
Radio.com interview last year. “Regardless of your political
beliefs, everybody should be able to love who they want to love and
live how they want to live.”
Musgraves has also taken a stand
against bullying, joining last year's Spirit Day.
