An historic Days of Our Lives
story arc will begin Tuesday with the marriage of Will Horton (played
by Guy Wilson) and Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith).
NBC's longest running soap opera will
make daytime drama history by broadcasting the genre's first gay male
wedding.
A storyline involving Will's coming out
captivated audiences in 2012.
Smith joined the cast of Days in
2011, becoming the soap's first openly gay character. Smith also
played gay on the CW's nighttime teenage drama 90210.
“With great surprises in store and
excitement building around this momentous occasion, audiences will be
blown away by the powerful performances to come,” Michael Fairman,
who writes about daytime drama, said
of the upcoming storyline.
