Pastor James David Manning of the Atlah
Worldwide Church in Harlem, New York claims that Jesus would endorse
the stoning of gay men and lesbians.
“Jesus would stone homos,” Manning
proclaimed on his church sign. “Stoning is still the law.”
The message included a reference to
Leviticus 20:13, which reads, “If a man lies with a man as with a
woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely
be put to death; their blood is upon them.”
Manning reportedly reiterated this
claim in a YouTube video which has since been taken down.
“Stoning of the homos is now in
order,” Manning said. “Stoning is still the law.”
Manning has previously courted
controversy.
A
sign last month read: “Obama has released the homo demons on
the black man. Look out black woman. A white homo may take your
man.”
And in a YouTube video, Manning
suggests President Barack Obama is gay.
After
telling his congregation that gay sex is “sick,” Manning
adds, “Don't drop your soap in the oval office,” followed by a
laugh.
