Performances by Adam Lambert, Melissa
Etheridge and Amber Riley helped the Family Equality Council raise a
record $571,000 at its 10th annual Award Dinner 2014 at
Universal Studios' Globe Theater in Los Angeles.
At the event, Lambert performed Mad
World accompanied by a piano. Riley performed Who You Are,
while Etheridge sang her new single to benefit LGBT Russians,
Uprising of Love. (Video of Lambert's performance is embedded

According
to Greg In Hollywood, the stars helped Family Equality Council, a
group dedicated to LGBT families, stage its most successful
fundraiser yet.
Honored at the event were Brad
Bredeweg and Peter Paige, creators of the ABC Family drama The
Fosters, and activist Jennifer
Tyrrell.
Tyrrell is the Ohio
mother who in 2012 was ousted as a den leader of her son's Boy Scout
troop because she is a lesbian. Tyrrell became an outspoken opponent
of the Boy Scouts of America's (BSA) ban on openly gay scouts and
leaders. On January 1, the BSA lifted its ban on gay scouts but
openly gay adults remain banned from the program.
The
show was hosted by Alec Mapa. Presenters included Glee
creator Ryan Murphy, actress Lisa Kudrow and the cast of the ABC
drama Scandal.
