Actor Sebastian Ligarde, who is best
known for appearing in more than 25 telenovelas, married his partner
of more than 20 years on Sunday in Mico, Texas.
Ligarde, who was born in Laredo, and
lawyer Jorge Lopez Lira exchanged vows on Ligarde's 60th
birthday.
“I turn 60 and I marry. A very
special day,” Ligarde messaged on Twitter.
While gay couples cannot legally marry
in Texas, TVNotas.com
reported that the couple was already married. The pair got legally
hitched last July in Mexico City.
Ligarde came out gay last year, telling
TVyNovelas magazine: “I'm gay and I say this with pride. No
gay person should have to walk down the street with stigma stamped on
his forehead. Sexual preference is genetic … and if God and my
family knows it, then let the world know it.”
Ligarde, who owns an acting school in
Miami, told TVNotas.com that Lira gave “light to my life.”
