Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), joined three conservatives Friday on a marriage panel at Values Voter Summit, the three-day conference organized by the Christian conservative Family Research Council (FRC).

Ryan Anderson and Jennifer Marshall of the Heritage Foundation and FRC President Tony Perkins joined Brown on the panel.

The four roundly criticized increasing support for gay marriage, equaling it with a loss of free speech for opponents.

Right Wing Watch, a project of People for the American Way, pointed out that while the conference was taking place in the District of Columbia, which legalized gay nuptials in 2009, the panelist repeatedly suggested that people who live in jurisdictions where such unions are legal are not allowed to express their opposition to marriage equality.

Brown told attendees that allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry undermines reality and the human condition.

Marriage equality is “an attempt to deconstruct the very nature of reality, the very nature of what it means to be a human being,” Brown said. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
