Ellen DeGeneres' support for gay
marriage is being blamed for two explosions near the finish line at
the Boston Marathon on Monday.
The blasts, which occurred about four
hours after the start of the race, killed at least 3 people and
wounded more than 170.
Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis
told reporters that many people were being questioned.
Two doctors on the scene believe the
crude explosive devices were made deadly with the addition of nails
or sharp objects, CNN reported.
“There is no question some of these
objects were implanted in the device for the purpose of being
exploded forward,” said Ron Walls, chair of emergency medicine at
Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Authorities said on Tuesday that they
were reviewing a large number of photos and videos from the marathon.
In a series of tweets, the Topeka,
Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church announced it would picket the
funerals of the victims and blamed the attack on increasing support
for marriage equality.
“Westboro Baptist Church to picket
funerals of those dead by Boston Bombs! GOD SENT THE BOMBS IN FURY
OVER FAG MARRIAGE! #PraiseGod.”
“THANK GOD FOR THE BOSTON MARATHON
BOMBS!!”
“Everyone can give a big thanks to
the likes of @TheEllenShow in supporting same-sex marriage – THAT
is the reason GOD SENT BOSTON BOMBS!” another tweet read.
“How is that fag marriage idea
working for you, America?!?!”
