A witness testifying before a Minnesota
House panel considering a gay marriage bill warned that legalizing
such unions would lead to “ejaculation inside of a colon.”
Mike Frey, who introduced himself as a
“concerned father and husband,” spoke before the House Civil Law
Committee considering the proposed marriage law on Tuesday.

“When ejaculation occurs inside of a
colon, it's highly absorbent material, the cells [unlike those found
in a vagina] do not have a barrier for the sperm and those enzymes to
enter into the blood flow,” Frey explained. “When the enzymes
enter into the blood flow, and a continued, prolonged environment of
that happens, these enzymes in the blood flow, it causes what we know
as AIDS.”
“And AIDS, of course, brings on
common diseases, colds and things, and it magnifies them to a point
where it's unhealthy.”
“I urge you to vote against the
changes inside this bill because it's going to put a health risk to
the society at large and it's going to put a financial burden on the
people of Minnesota to be able to support all of the diseases that

Writing at The
Huffington Post, Cavan Sieczkowski called Frey's testimony
“homophobic” and “misleading.”
Sieczkowski reminded readers that more
than half of the 34 million adults living with HIV/AIDS globally are
women and that it is simply not true that women's bodies can somehow
block transmission of the virus.
